Saish Privacy Policy
Effective date: 13 September 2026
Saish is an app for mixing ambient sound, resting and sleeping. We built it to work without an account, and we collect as little as we can. This policy explains what that means in practice.
In this policy, "Saish", "we" and "us" means Caleb Wilson, the developer of the app.
The short version
- No account. You never give us your name, email or password to use the app.
- No ads and no tracking. The app contains no advertising, and we never track you across other apps or websites.
- Usage data, which you can switch off. We record which sounds, mixes and timers get used, so we know what to make more of. It's attached to a random code for your device, never to your name, and never includes what you listen to on Apple Music or Spotify. Turn it off in Settings → Share Usage Data.
- We don't sell or share your data for advertising or any other purpose.
- Most of your data stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account, which we can't access.
- The small amount that reaches us is described below.
1. Data that stays with you
The following is stored on your device and, if iCloud is turned on, synced through Apple's iCloud to your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. We cannot see it.
- Your mixes and music choices
- Your settings (theme, timer defaults and similar)
- Listening stats and achievements (for example, time spent listening and streaks)
- How many free sessions you've used
- Your answers to Sound Requests (kept locally so the app can show them back to you)
iCloud is provided by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
2. Data that reaches us
The device identifier. A few features below send us a device identifier: a random code the app creates the first time it needs one. It doesn't contain your name, your Apple Account or any details about your device, and it isn't an advertising identifier. It's stored in your device's Keychain, so it stays the same if you delete and reinstall the app. It isn't synced to your other devices, so each device has its own.
Downloading sounds and articles. When the app downloads sounds, Tips & Articles, or the Sound Requests list, it connects to our servers, which are hosted by Cloudflare. As with any internet connection, this involves your IP address and basic technical details (such as the time of the request). We don't store your IP address or use it to identify you. Cloudflare may process it briefly to deliver content and protect against abuse.
Sound Requests. If you vote on a sound request or send us a suggestion, we receive:
- your vote, or the text you wrote (up to 500 characters), and
- the device identifier, so that each device's vote counts once and can be changed, and to prevent spam.
Please don't include personal information in suggestions. We use them only to decide which sounds to add.
Usage data. Unless you turn it off, the app sends us information about how it's used. This is how we learn which sounds are worth recording next and whether the sleep timers are the right lengths.
What we receive:
- which sounds are started and stopped, how long they played, and roughly what volume each was left at
- which mixes are saved, opened and deleted, and whether they began as one of our Mix Ideas
- which sleep timer lengths are chosen, and whether they run out or get cut short
- which parts of Studio are opened, which messages are read, and for how long
- whether a music service is connected, and whether music was played alongside a mix
- the app version, your iOS version, whether you subscribe, and the country your connection comes from (worked out from the connection itself; we don't store your IP address)
- the device identifier
What we never receive:
- anything you listen to on Apple Music or Spotify: no track, artist, album, playlist or station, ever
- anything you type, including mix names (sound suggestions are covered separately above)
- your name, email, contacts, photos, precise location or device model
To turn it off: Settings → Share Usage Data. Once it's off, the app stops recording and sending right away. Anything recorded before you switched it off stays on your device unsent, and is only sent if you turn the setting back on.
Contacting us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to reply to you.
3. Apple Music and Spotify
These connections are optional and only happen if you choose to set them up.
Apple Music. If you give permission, the app accesses your Apple Music library and searches the Apple Music catalog so you can pick playlists and albums for your mixes. This happens on your device through Apple's MusicKit. Your library and listening history are not sent to us. You can turn off access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music.
Spotify. If you connect Spotify, the app stores a sign-in token on your device so it can control the Spotify app (play, pause and choose what plays). We don't receive your Spotify account details or listening history. Spotify's handling of your data is covered by Spotify's Privacy Policy.
Our usage data records only that a music service is connected and that music played alongside a mix. What played is never recorded, for either service.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether you have an active purchase so it can unlock Premium features.
5. How long we keep data
- On your device and in iCloud: until you delete it (see below).
- Sound Request votes and suggestions: for as long as they're useful for deciding which sounds to add, and then deleted.
- Usage data: individual records are deleted after 90 days. Before that, they're added into daily totals (counts and averages with no device identifier in them), which we keep so we can see how the app changes over time.
- Emails: for as long as needed to help you, and for a reasonable time after.
- Server connection data: kept only briefly by our hosting provider, as part of normal operation.
6. Your choices and deleting your data
- Turn off usage data: Settings → Share Usage Data.
- Reset in the app: Settings → Reset All Data clears your stats, achievements and settings.
- Delete the app to remove the data stored on your device.
- Remove iCloud data: in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud, you can manage or turn off iCloud for Saish.
- Apple Music / Spotify: revoke access in iOS Settings, or disconnect Spotify in the app.
- Votes, suggestions and usage data held by us: email us and we'll help. Because this data is linked only to a random device code and not to your name or email, we may not be able to tell which records are yours. Usage records are deleted automatically after 90 days, and daily totals contain nothing that points back to a device.
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal data, or to object to how it's used. Just email us. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in running the app, keeping Sound Requests free of spam, and understanding which features are used so we can improve them. You can object to usage data at any time by switching it off. When you email us, we rely on your request to hear back from us.
7. Children
Saish isn't directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
Data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Your device identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum so there's very little at risk.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, for example if we start collecting something new, we'll let you know in the app.
